Having spent over a week in this tent since owning it, I wanted to write a gear review to share my experience. My spouse and I bought the Dark Room tent in the summer of 2022, after spending over a week in 2021 in our old White Stag tent from Walmart. While the old White Stag is still functional, we were disappointed with its inability to block out bothersome light from other campers. We were also awakened by the sun at first light in that light blue White Stag tent. My spouse began searching for a darker tent, and Coleman offered just what we were looking for: the Dark Room Skydome Camping Tent.

Size: This seems like a standard 4-person tent in size, meaning it absolutely will not hold four people. It holds, per the Coleman Website, a single queen-size inflatable mattress. My husband and I don't use an inflatable bed, but rather two individual sleeping pads. These fit comfortably in the tent from front-to-back. with plenty of space for gear left over.

Setup: Because the poles are attached to the back corners of the tent, setup is quick and streamlined. It takes well under 10 minutes to set up the tent, rainfly, and stake everything down. I do recommend buying additional stakes and using a mallet with a hook on the end to secure those stakes.

Sturdiness: The first time we used this tent was September 2022 at the Connecticut Star Party, in Goshen, CT. We set up the tent under blustery conditions, which worsened throughout the first night of the two-night star party, because Hurricane Fiona was passing offshore. Wind gusts hit at least 45mph over night, and the tent did not collapse, although the poles did flex noticeably and the tent body kept hitting me in the face while I was trying to sleep. The only damage this tent has taken since we bought it three years ago (at time of writing in September 2025) is a small tear at the attachment point of the rear guy line. This small tear is visible but has never worsened. I keep telling myself I should repair it, but I never do, and it has not enlarged even in windy conditions.

We have not camped in rainy conditions with this tent, but it does have the "bathtub" design that Coleman tents tend to have, which is a waterproof base that extends 4-5 inches up the sides of the tent. The sides of the tent sometimes become damp with dew overnight but have never dripped on me.
