Race Report: Run and Wag 5k

Today, I'll be recapping the Annual Run and Wag 5k, which is held annually by The Little Guild Animal Rescue in Cornwall, CT. The Little Guild is a no-kill shelter that serves dogs and cats.

Date: October 27, 2026

Town: Cornwall, CT, USA

Distance: 5k

Conditions: It was a chilly, overcast day for the 2026 event. It was 50°F (10°C) when the race started at noon. It was breezy, borderline windy.

Parking: There were no signs for parking, but there was a flagger on the state road one turn away from the park where the race was held. I was able to park across that state road down a side street and walk less than a half mile to the starting line.

Check In: There was no line at check-in, which was in a tent across the road from Town Hall. Packets were given out in cute brown paper bags, which included a tech shirt, a wristlet bag, and the race bib with pins.

Course Description: The out-and back course starts on a slight downhill, and rolling small hills were the rule for the entire race. There were picturesque fields on one side of the road and woods on the other. The turnaround point was on a hill next to a large red barn. The water stop was situated at the turnaround.

Afterparty: The farmer's market in Cornwall was still operating when the race began, and the vendors stayed open to catch the departing runners after the race, too. There were refreshments for humans and canines alike, with little paper bowls to water the doggies. There was a rather good string quartet playing folk music, as well.
