Today, I will be recapping the annual run in memory of Tom Centinaro, which funds a local scholarship. This event is hosted by the Wolcott Lions Club.
Course Map
Town: Wolcott, CT, USA
Distance: 3.5 miles
Conditions: It was a very sunny, cool morning. It was 54F when the race began but the afterparty felt warm because of the sun.
Parking: There was plenty of parking in the lot across the road from the start line.
Check In: This process was smooth, but the line was pretty long when I arrived 40 minutes before the race start. Runners were given bags with a long-sleeved tech shirt, snacks, and their bib.
Course Description: This was a beautiful course around the Scoville Reservoir. Runners started in waves to avoid bunching up on the trail, which did affect gun time for folks in the slower corrals. There were small rolling hills all along the trail run. Foliage was pretty in 2025 - we had expected to lose more leaves by now due to the summer drought but the area around the reservoir was still beautiful.
There was a water stop just over 2 miles into the race and the volunteers refilled my water bottle for me. The final mile of the race included traversing the dam itself. There was a steep downhill finish onto grass.
Afterparty: This race is known for offering a bowl of clam chowder (with oyster crackers) to all finishers. There were also bottles of water, bananas, and some Halloween candy. Notably, the awards allowed double-dipping, so overall winners were also eligible to win their age groups.
