Today, I will be recapping the Ed McGuire Cannonball Run. The race is kicked off with a blast from a cannon!
Course Map
Town: Canaan, CT, USA
Distance: 5km (a bit short due to a last-minute course change)
Conditions: It was a cool autumn morning for the 2025 race, starting around 50F. There were strong winds due to the passing remnants of Hurricane Melissa. In fact, so many trees came down in the small town of Canaan as a result of the high winds that the course needed to be altered at the last minute.
Parking: There was a small parking lot and on-street parking in the tiny village center.
Check In: This was a relatively small race and there was no check-in line. The safety pins provided were comically large but did the job.
Course Description: The late fall foliage was picturesque on the out-and-back course starting from the village center. There were a few rolling hills along the course. We turned around at the high school's parking lot, which was home to a water stop.
Afterparty: There were water and clementines available after the race.
