Today, I will be reviewing the annual Jingle Bell Run held in Madison, CT. This race benefits the Arthritis Foundation. It was rescheduled from 14 December 2025 to 21 December as a result of snow and ice on the original race date.
Course Map
Town: Madison, CT, USA
Distance: 5km
Conditions: It was a cold sunny morning on the winter solstice, with quite a breeze blowing along the Long Island Sound shoreline. It was 41F when the race started.
Parking: There was ample parking at the Surf Club where the race was held, but it was very challenging to leave after the race, as the course utilized much of the club's driveway.
Check In: Quick with no line. The race swag was neatly placed into a reusable bag and included a long-sleeved cotton tee shirt, a bracelet, and an adorable jingle bell pin. Check in was very close to the parking lot so I was able to easily drop off the bag and go warm up.
Course Description: I was not a fan of this course at all. The views of Long Island Sound were very nice, and the course itself is flat apart from a few speed bumps. However, 2.5 laps of the lollipop-shaped course were required to complete the 5k distance, making the race feel very long and repetitive.
Afterparty: The DJ was very good with excellent sound quality. He made helpful announcements and the music was fun, seasonal, and easy to hear for much of the race course. There were a wide variety of snacks inside after the race as well as Dunkin Donuts coffee. There was also fresh fruit.
