Today, I'll be recapping the Easton Memorial Day Mile race. The proceeds of the 2026 race supported the Easton Senior Center
Town: Easton, CT, USA
Distance: 1 mi (the course was 0.01 mile short)
Conditions: In 2026, there was heavy rainfall, making for a very soggy race. It was 57°F (13°C) at the start of the race with no wind.
Parking: There were 2 parking lots available with sufficient space for participants. I imagine there is greater turnout in years with better weather, so the overflow lot likely gets used more.
Check In: Bib pickup took place on a patch of greenway by the fire department, right by the race start/finish line. While there were only 2 people in front of me when I checked in, it seemed to take awhile to get the attention of the volunteers. They were making numerous adjustments to the various race tents due to the heavy rain.
Course Description: The course starts just up the hill from the Easton Fire Department. Runners proceed half a mile into a nearby neighborhood, starting uphill. The turnaround point was marshalled. The finish was a fast downhill.
